this is why we’re here
god loves these kids, and so do we
“‘I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me.’
Then those “sheep” are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling you the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me–you did it to me.'”
Matthew 25:35-40
their world
What’s it like?
the ghetto
he falls to the ground
war without bonds, the street claims its spoils
if only he had chose a different path
but were there choices
did he choose it or did it choose him
in the land of opportunity
here are the brave
where are the free
lady liberty has hidden averted her eyes
she says that anyone can choose
anyone can make it
american values, whatever that means
has she told the man down the street working
three jobs just to feed his family
or maybe the baby born hooked on crack
surely she sees the little girl who lays awake all night
terrified of those who come to rob her innocence
choose another path
as if they chose this one
leave the drugs
but what will numb the pain that devours them from the inside out
lay down your guns
but who will protect them when the sharks smell easy prey
choose
they don’t even know how
why do i get choices
why do i get a whole family when they get broken fragments
why do i get to rise above the violence
show me this justice for all
can they choose too
this chose them
i choose because i am chosen
only a greater claim can free them
who will choose them
You have
don’t let them be claimed by this decay
don’t let the grave engulf them
they do not belong to this
they belong to You
come quickly to save
desperate lives cry out to choose
to by chosen
by You

Pouring God’s Love on Our Kids and Their Families
“And whoever welcomes a little child like this, welcomes me, but if anyone gives them a hard time or causes them to stumble, it would be better for him to be thrown in a lake with a rock tied around his neck so he would drown.”
Matthew 18:5,6
